about us.

our vision

We have a passion to present Jesus to London.

At Emmanuel we want to become…

  • a church that will see many people come to know Jesus in London

  • a church that pursues everyday discipleship

  • a church that is committed to racial reconciliation

  • a church that serves the next generation

To play our part in seeing this vision play out an Emmanuel member will…

Give - ourselves wholeheartedly to God, this includes our energy, money and time to the ongoing work of Jesus.

Grow - in our everyday pursuit of Jesus

Go - actively and intentionally help people around us meet Jesus

beliefs

Emmanuel Church London is an evangelical, charismatic, Protestant church. We hold to the central beliefs of the Christian faith as historically expressed in statements such as the Nicene Creed. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance and affirm their basis of faith.

Jesus is head of the church and this is reflected through us being a church of God’s word and God’s Spirit.

Word - We believe the Bible is the word of God, that it “is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Tim 3:16) We aim to build all areas of church life on the word of God.

Spirit - We believe in the Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity: eternal, divine, and sent by the Father to convict the world of sin, bring new life, dwell in believers and empower them. We believe that the gifts of the Spirit are meant to be actively pursued and exercised by all believers for the common good of the church.

At Emmanuel we believe that water baptism is for people who have repented of their sin and trusted in Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

wider family

Emmanuel is a Christian Church that is part of Newfrontiers, a group of apostolic church leaders partnering together on global mission, with 1000s of churches in 90+ nations across the world. We are joined by common values and beliefs, shared mission and genuine relationships.

Within this we are partners with a smaller group of churches building together to see churches established in cities across Europe and Canada. Some of these churches include: Liberty Church in Amsterdam, Mosaic Church in Berlin and Grace Church in Ottawa.

Rachel and Sean Macnamara and their family live in Kenya and work at Naomi’s Village a children’s home and school providing holistic, intentional and loving care for Kenyan children in need. They have been part of our church family for many years and we have a real friendship, connection and support for them.

our story

Emmanuel Church London started in 2008 as a church plant, first meeting in living rooms throughout the Greenwich area. As the church grew Emmanuel started meeting in larger venues such as the GDA in Greenwich and the University of Greenwich. In 2015 we started meeting at the Odeon Greenwich for our Sunday meetings and are still there now.

our leaders

Emmanuel is lead by a great team of committed and gifted leaders who serve us, both pastorally and in the day to day running of the church. Spiritual oversight and responsibility is provided by a team of elders. Legal and financial oversight is provided by a committed board of trustees. We have a range of leaders and a staff team who carry the varying gifts and skills that God gives to bless and serve the church.

Ben and Vikki Rowe lead the team at Emmanuel Church London. Ben is our senior leader and pastor.
